Steve Azar Celebrity Challenge

Thanks for joining me again! This past month has been full of excitement!

As I told you before, I went to Nashville for the Steve Azar Celebrity challenge and it was a blast! Fellow LPGA Tour player Angela Jerman and I were there to represent the Tour. We were treated very well and got to meet a lot of celebrities. The competition included NFL players, country musicians, skiers, wrestlers and actors… The event consisted of celebrities divided into 6 teams. Our task was to accumulate the most points by pitching a baseball, throwing a football, chipping a golf ball, kicking a soccer ball, free-throwing a basketball, etc. All that I did was bring my royal blue team down but we won!! We even got a trophy for it!!!

When I returned, it was back to business and to practicing. After having missed the U.S. Open qualifier, I decided to play in a Duramed FUTURES Tour event to get some competition. I just haven’t been getting into as many LPGA events as I anticipated. I went to Decatur, IL for the only major on the Duramed FUTURES Tour. I was leading with 68-69 after two days. The weekend was a disaster but I was glad to have been in such a position. Getting two solid rounds in was a confidence boost. Right after the final round, I packed up my bags to go Monday qualify in Rochester for the Wegmans LPGA. I was exhausted when I arrived in Rochester on Monday morning at 1:00 a.m. to tee off again at 8:30 a.m. I didn’t even know the course! I can’t imagine having to juggle between two tours all year long!! Although I didn’t make it through the Monday qualifier, I had to stay and play the waiting game again. I was 1st alternate and it didn’t make sense for me to leave and play in the following Duramed FUTURES Tour event. I was signed up for both tournaments and had everything to lose but I had to do what I had to do!

Well, it paid off to stay when I got into the field on Wednesday night at 9:00 p.m! It was the first time that I got into a tournament after being on the alternate list! Maybe luck will come my way for a little while! Though I missed the cut, I am trying not to lose my patience. Overall, I can say it’s been a difficult season but it’s only making me tougher. I can say that I would never go through this if I didn’t have passion for the game.
Persevering is probably my strength and I feel that it is helping me through these stressful times. All I have to do is to trust what I am working on, eat well, exercise well, and rest well… And hopefully, by my next blog, I will have more exciting golf news to talk about!!!
